Wow, what a month! The team has been super-busy with preparations these last few weeks: getting the cars shoe-d, securing visas, securing sponsors, coordinating events, managing the shipping of the cars, etc. etc. As you can see by the previous post, the cars have turned out very nicely thanks to many long liquid nails-filled days under the scorching sun of Richmond. A few more details are left along with finishing the primary logo wrap and then the cars are off to the docks to be shipped over to Southampton, U.K.
In other news, we’ve decided to change our route. Syria, we’d love to visit, but it’s just too risky at the moment (in terms of both danger and feasibility), so we’ll have to visit some other day. Instead we will be going the other way around the Mediterranean, sweeping south after the Czech-Out Party through Italy, boarding a ferry to Tunisia, and continuing on through Libya until we get to Egypt. We figure that swapping Tunisia and Libya for Syria and Jordan is a good deal. See the update route map here.
You may have noticed a few changes on the web site, most notably that we have added all of the current sponsor details, added a team member (Hi Ann!), updated our partners section to include both Internations, ActionAid, and The Adventurists, and have added a few more prep pictures to the gallery–be sure to check that stuff out.
Other than that, we have shipping scheduled for mid-June (Virginia), another Interview on Fox 2 News (Detroit) coming up on June 23rd, the big send-off BBQ on the 24th (also in Detroit), flights to the UK the first few days of July, and launch day on the 14th of July (more about that coming soon). Time is going fast, so be sure to check back here regularly for all of the updates.
Hope all of our American friends had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
