We spent the weekend putting the final touches on the cars and packing them up for shipment to the United Kingdom. Very exciting!
We’re bringing a lot of automotive supplies, so we’re keeping a “clean car” and a “dirty car”. Our goal is to keep all the smelly automotive parts, fluids, tools, tires, etc. separate from the kitchenware, chairs, bedding, and fun bits of Americana (Old Glory tiki torches, anyone?). Thankfully, the Commonwealth provided two beautiful days of high 70s sunshine so we could air out the roof tents and spread out the packing goodness.
At this point, the Oregon Hill “shoe cars” are a local fixture, so lots of Richmonders stopped by to chat and snap photos. A couple of Williamsburg house hunters even pulled over to ask Joe to autograph his Shoebaru photo in Richmond Magazine! He’s a local celebrity.
Other fun weekend happenings: Scott BKK made his way from Bangkok to Richmond (via Utah, the District, North Carolina, and a few other places). It was great to hang out pre-London! Also, we’d like thank Pete Gillis of Gillis Media Services for the awesome vinyl designs and Emily Monroe for her beautiful (and clever) creations!

Where will you pack the “Tent of Shameful Poops”?
Excellent question! It’s currently in the “clean car,” but I have a feeling it will be relegated to the “dirty car” somewhere around Egypt.
Thought we were going to have a separate “Tent of Shameful Poops” carrying trailer???
WAY too important to not have locked up in the vehicle at all times. 10s of minutes were spent procuring, and creating that masterpiece!
